Samuel H. Cheshier, MD, PhD, stands at the forefront of Pediatric Surgical Neuro-Oncology as the Director within the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at the University of Utah School of Medicine and Intermountain Primary Children's Hospital. As an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery and holder of the prestigious Kathryn S.R. Endowed Chair in the Department of Neurosurgery, he is deeply committed to enhancing the care and research surrounding pediatric central nervous system malignancies.
Dr. Chan is a member of the neuro-oncology team at Primary Children's Medical Center. Her clinical interests include the care of children and young adults with brain and spine tumors. Dr. Chan's clinical interests are focused on the development of early phase clinical trials for children with central nervous system tumors and the long-term care of patients who have survived these cancers.
Neil Patel, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery within the Department of Otolaryngology (Head and Neck Surgery). Dr. Patel's clinical interests in otology/neurotology include skull base tumors, facial nerve tumors, cochlear implantation in adults and children, otosclerosis (stapes surgery), cerebrospinal fluid leaks and encephaloceles, skull base bony dysplasia, middle ear disease including cholesteatoma, neurofibromatosis type 2, and ear and temporal bone cancer.
Robert Rennert, MD, is fellowship trained in both skull base and vascular neurosurgery, and is dedicated to the comprehensive care of pediatric patients with complex skull base diseases. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary teama dn leveragign a research background in pediatric skull base development, Dr. Rennert's focus is developing and executing cutting-edge, evidence-based treatment plans that are individualized to the patient and pathology
Dr. Alt's clinical practice is focused on sinus and nasal diseases including management of acute and chronic sinusitis, polyps, allergy, septal deviation, growths and tumors of the sinuses and skull base, and cerebrospinal fluid leaks. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Alt is actively involved in research and is a co-investigator on a multi-institutional grant from the National Institutes of Health to study treatment outcomes for sinus disease. He currently serves in Head and Neck Surgery as the Associate Director of the Rhinology-Sinus and Skull Base Surgery.
Trevor Memmott, MD, received his medical degree from University of Texas at San Antonio School of Medicine, completed his Pediatric residency at University of Arizona (Tucson), and his Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at the University of Utah. His training emphasized caring for patients with central nervous system tumors. He joined the faculty at the University of Utah in 2024 in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. He serves as Utah’s clinical investigator for the Children’s Brain Tumor Network. His clinical focus as a neuro-oncologist is caring for children with brain and spinal cord tumors. His research focuses include screening practices for hereditary cancer syndromes, low grade glioma, translational models for pediatric central nervous system tumors, and clinical trials. He works at both the Salt Lake City and Lehi Primary Children’s Hospital campuses.
Dr. Whipple serves as the Medical Director of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology at Primary Children's Hospital and the University of Utah. His clinical focus is in pediatric neuro-oncology, histiocytic disorders, and rare tumors. He is currently working to develop early phase clinical trials for children with recurrent malignant central nervous system tumors.
